The battery should ideally be charging at least 13.5 volts at WOT. If not, check voltage at the red or purple wire at the regulator...

Did you ever get this saw sorted out? IIRC those carburetors have an accelerator plunger. When the oring is bad on it weird things happen.

It all depends on what you’re looking for. The sharper the hook the faster it should cut but it will have a more fragile cutting edge.
