Same. This was brand new! Putting an 8 on it to run a 20” for some saw training. We don’t have enough “smaller” saws for all our guys to use. I’m going to use this one and get it broken in. Didn’t want to lug a 24 or 28 around all day.

I’m going to try this method next time.

I found a YouTube video with a modified screwdriver. I’m going to try that next time!

Tried that, over and over and over again. Ultimately, that what worked with a better screwdriver but this one was a MF’r.

I tried c clip pliers used for transmission shafts. It helped, but still couldn’t get it off. Went to get another screwdriver and bending the Stihl orange handle junk and it popped right off. 🤦‍♂️

Exactly! And this one has a wrap! I’m just going to take the advice of the certified Stihl tech…..destroy it and put a new one on! Screw greasing needle bearings and such! Run it till melts or the rim sprocket is trash!

That’s exactly what happened. I walked off to find something else to try and pry it off and it popped right off. The damage was already done though, lol. I told it to GFY!

Well, I went to the dealer to get some more spare parts and a few e clips and asked him. He told me he fights with them just the same and swaps to the old style as well. Told him to throw a few of those in as well! I was going to give them a shot.

I went to change rim sprockets and check/grease my bearing on my 500i. It has a different style retaining washer than my other saws. I fought with it for 15 minutes before I got it off. I have NEVER fought one so bad. What’s the trick?

O ring may fix it. I buy the caps by the dozen, lol. They don’t last long with my guys.

Last time I took S212 recertification, there were several hotshots from “out west” that had been assigned to east TN. We were sharpening saws before the felling cut observations and they kept hitting their rakers……that didn’t work out too well here, especially when we started cutting some bigger...

I’ve tried the bungee/chain and tire method. I have a splitter as well so if I can’t split it upright, sideways, in a pile, etc., the chunks get moved to the “splitter” pile.

Is anyone on here an Echo dealer? We have a SRM410U brush cutter at work. We bought locally but that place is no longer a dealer. I need a carb and a few other things for it.
