    G111/200t base

Pretty dang good can be made better. Most saws that get ported are already pretty dang good.

    G111/200t base

It lowers the exhaust. Which increases distance ATDC. I have squish set, but want to cut the band to lower the cylinder even more. I’m not concerned with numbers or brand……just concerned about what’s a safe minimum base thickness. Working on developing my build on these. Want to avoid a...

    G111/200t base

Working on aG111/200t and trying to get my exhaust roof numbers. After a base cut to get squish I’m at 98 degrees. I’d really like to be several degrees higher. However, the base so starting to get a little thin. Does anyone have a rule as to minimum base thickness?

    Stihl MS311 vs Echo CS-590

I’ll pee in the pool and say a Neotec 6800. Not sure how they run out of the box. But with a base cut and a muffler mod the one I’m shaking down smokes a 550. There is a 63cc cylinder on the way. And another saw to get a baseline and comparisons as the mods go on. I can’t wait to get to the...

    SOLD Ms361

Different, but the 361 clone that I big bored and ported is a favorite saw. It fixed the gutless that all the 361s had going against them. Fast, until it was time to work

    Echo CS-7310 Handle/Anti-Vib Question

I’ve always thought those (on any saw) should have a soft rubber bushing. Something that would firm up the suspension and cushion it when bottoming, without impacting normal antivibe properties. Guessing it would be too susceptible to oil and not worth doing.

    Raker shape

Get a progressive raker gauge. The WCS is the best I’ve seen. It gives you depth options. A simple jig that sets the raker for the tooth it controls, based on that tooth. First used it on a well worn chain, immediately noticed how smooth it was. The WCS is stupidly expensive for a business...

Muffler mod, how do you remove the chips grit?

Flush with brake clean before cutting so they don’t stick. Blow them out with air the best I can. Then a 1/2 hour in the ultrasonic hot tub. Rinse, dry, scuff paint. PS. Try to paint inside too. Especially if you won’t be running it soon. It’s stripped of oil, it will rust in there.

    Pennsylvania people…need a favor

It was a chicken *s-word move. A man decides what he wants to do, then does it. If he screwed himself on a deal, he goes through with it, and acts with honor. I kinda called him out on it, but his pride(if it exists) didn’t kick in! He seemed to think not honoring his deal and going back on his...

Flap Wheels for Mower Blade Sharpening

The only thing I’ve found better is a belt grinder with ceramic belts. It cuts so well it doesn’t build much heat. Leaves you with little balls of metal everywhere. One of the cheap 4” belt sanders can be fitted with the belts. It won’t last long in hard use, but will hold up to casual use...

Making my own flywheel pullers for Stihl equipment (and possibly others)

You can buy one that is threaded on both ends, it does a pile of the Stihls and is under $20. I can’t imagine why you would want to make that.

    Echo 2511T fuel tank repair

I’d superglue. Then roughly scuff the outside. Use any good plastic friendly epoxy in a thin layer, and fiberglass cloth. Several layers of each, a smooth layer of epoxy on the outside to seal it. It’ll seal, and be strong.
