My defective bar had a noticeably wider groove than the .050 bar itself.

I had to return a brand new Husqvarna x-tough light bar (made by Sugihara) because the replaceable nose sprocket wasn't straight and had a noticeable kick to one side. It's worth giving the bar a really good inspection to see if a bar defect is causing the problem.
