    Let's Build a 266

The seal presses into the case, just like a 272 or 372. The orange thing you ask about is the case itself.

    HELP! identify this Stihl chainsaw

Functionally, there is no good reason to swap the crank driven oiler for a clutch driven one. I can tell you from experience that it will oil a 25" bar with no issues. Yes, a clutch driven oiler is going to be less messy with the saw idling, but you need to evaluate how much time you actually...

254/346 Hybrid Build “documentation” thread thingy… idk

I like to have a poke through the meteor catalog for stuff like this. They list every dimension in the book. https://www.meteorpiston.com/web/content/2996?unique=f337c7dffafe397f66888cdb00a132ae9428c684&download=true

    JRed 670 Impulse quandry

I have an early boot impulse 670 jug that came to me with the pulse nipple added at an odd angle, and a non impulse boot. I suspect there may have been an update kit at one point. I will have to poke through the service bulletins one of these days.

I need a damn good trimmer head for the Stihl FS130, FS350, and FS550

This is one of our pole saws at work. They managed to break the intake manifold, and I think that caused it to overrev enough to float the valves and knock the rocker out of place... Came to me "it feels like it has no compression..."

    Husky 162/272--Jonny 630/670 project thread.

That's the 357/359 bearings that are made in Japan. The top covers are the same ones I posted earlier, from the same UK based seller.

That's not a 154 chassis clone, that's a 162 chassis. My guess is open port 48mm, so a 61 clone. I would be very surprised if it was a closed port 162/630 jug.

H/42 Special cylinder identification, is it a Gilardoni ?

We did identify that he does indeed have a Tecomec cylinder in PM's.

Think the saws being released now will be the last ever???

Husky still builds the 61, 272, 281, 288, 353, 365 Special and OE 372, Stihl still builds the 260, 361, 382(evolution of the 038,) 660, 780/880, the 210/230/250 are very long in tooth, and of course there is the ms070/ms720 for truly old designs. We may not get them in North America, but there...

I think you may have a Tecomec cylinder on there.

Lets talk new saws vs old iron

My old man started running saws in 1954, and finally had to retire from the bush in 99 due to injury(back was pretty much toast from having a tree fall on him in 91.) He didn't have much good to say about the reliability of what he considered to be the old saws, especially North American ones...

    Partner Chain Saw Thread

Just got my hands on this odd little creature. 1975 P50. 50cc, 42mm x 36mm. Overall a very unique design, hiding a few very modern touches. Google translate butchered the brochure a bit, but it mostly makes sense. I have had it running, currently waiting on a carb kit.
