FYI, wind chill only effects living things, your saw and gas will be in line with the real temp. Wind chill will not make them colder.

I don't think that's exactly right. Wind will strip heat away from anything that's producing it. So, if you have a tractor plugged in at -25 and no wind, that's different than if it's -25 with 40 mph winds. But as far as mixed gas and a non running saw are concerned, wind-chill will have no effect.

Here's my winter covers. And at 40 below I add about a inch wide strip of duct tape above the side cover to cover it up more.
My 372XP OE had a winterkit piece that blocks off the air injection snorkel. My 562 here doesn't need the air injection blocked.
Got winter grill cover on my diesel pickup too.

25 and 26 yesterday and this morning at daybreak for lows, and if it's any consolation men, Super Bowl Sunday here in Atlanta is going to be 65-68 degs...I live about 90 miles south of Atlanta, straight down I-75 in Warner Robins, and we're looking at the same temp-wise. Wednesday of next week we're looking at 78 degs or so for the high.

Crazy ass weather!

thinking it's black solenoid or carb icing. So to eliminate that it's carb icing I'll let the saw warm up. get it running then put it back out in the cold but with a stock air filter cover set to winter position.

It takes a bit to warm stuff up on its own at that temp. This inspired me to make a vidja this morning, downloading at the speed of smell...

Equipment cannot get any colder than 'actual' temps. But winds can cool them down faster, and make it take longer to warm them up.

Yep, back in the day we covered our skidders with a thin nylon parachute and kept the engines warm with hockey stick propane heaters. That parachute made all the difference in the world keeping the wind chill off.
