So mystery solved on the sloppiness of that clutch last weekend -- 576 clutch has bigger threads. Wow.
Good to know. Bummer it caused a leak.

Is this the saw I cut one 3 or 4 foot length in half lengthwise?

Glad you got things figured out to root cause!

Yes indeed this is the saw it ran okay but only okay it did not tune as I would have liked so hopefully this solves that problem but maybe not maybe there are other issues that I need to work out we will see

FYI..........

570 oem clutch pn: 503744405
372 oem clutch pn: 503744401

It seems that those responsible for clutch design at husqvarna, do not really understand true meaning of CAD......... :)

nice info, thanks

there's just no good reason to change the threads... none. and the clutches would be identical otherwise.

Yup....thats how it feels. I spent an extraordinary amount of time building these things and they still get messed up.

Every time I think I did an ok job something bites me in the ass.....

Hey Matt, don't feel bad. Everyone learns from their mistakes, and I doubt you'll make them again in the future. You're a very knowledgeable saw mechanic, and you're always helpful when you offer to wrench on a saw at a GTG. Thanks for sharing what you learn with the community, too.

Just a matter of details... Some aren't so minor.

I shortened the line in the air box and think kink went away. ...again....my bad. Not gonna blame the line for that.

Who knows whether this or the vac leak buggard the piston....

If it was the line, it seems it would have cheaper to just buy the curly line at this point.

I don't think it was the line. I think it was the vac leak. But...I think the line was causing the stalling in the cuts. ...
