I have this 066 cylinder that needs a bolt hole welded. Isn’t there someone here that does this? Also how much would it cost me? I have another cylinder but it’s not a flat top cylinder.
Thanks

I was pretty disappointed when I took the saw apart and found that.

Shaun could fix that right up I'll bet, and a few other members also weld aluminum and alloys. Saw-king has fixed many jugs like that for me. Just make sure you clean it well. I start with straight gas and then do Purple Power, followed by a little out-gassing in the oven.

Shouldn’t be a hard fix unless there’s a hidden crank running into the port somewhere. I’ll throw my hat in the ring for the repair, but lots of good guys here seem to do a nice job too.

Which one is the worst chlorinated or non chlorinated? I know one can make you sick and the other just stinks

Theres another welder around here who has impressed the hell out of us and that's @Scotts_4x out of Californee. @drf256 has also been known to stack a few dimes. mdavlee would be another go to. I know I left many out who are willing to take on work and that's my bad, but I don't know everyone who aluminum welds.

You need someone that does TIG welding. Then you need someone with some machine shop tools to face it off, drill and tap it.

I have the means to surface it and drill and tap. My dad didn’t have much luck welding a junk cylinder.

I have found someone to weld it. Would you guys put that much time into this cylinder?

That's an easy fix. Ditch cut, weld solid, surface and drill/tap new hole. Takes about 30-45 minutes.

This is exactly what I would and have done on any and all aluminum thread repairs with threaded pillars. Cut the hole open at least 50% so you have a U with threads in the bottom and weld it up solid. Mill/drill/tap and it's like brand new.

You have to cut all the threads out or you won't be able to get a clean weld to the bottom, they always hold contaminates and don't melt in well. I clean the threads out so you're welding on clean metal and ditch cut enough to get the tig torch down to the bottom of the thread bore.
