where is a good place to buy 100’ rolls of stihl 3/8 .50 rm chain? Looking on eBay they want 490.99 a roll and that won’t work because it works out to the same price as the local dealer almost. It’s for my arborist friend and he likes stihl chain.

    Try kevlargaffs on eBay.
The guy is kind of a douche, but he sells chain cheaper than what my dealer buys it for.
$376 for 100' of square skip.
You'd have to ask about rm though

I checked here in Canada and it wouldn’t be any cheaper to order it from up here.

Funniest thing about this I asked the dealer and he asked “Do they still make that?” Shakes head stupid Americans...

    Must it be Stihl RM?

Oregon has something similar, & @radio is a good source.

What powerhead & bar are you running this on @lehman live edge slab?

For the local tree service that I fix saws for, he is pretty insistent on stihl chain. He tried Oregon and Carlton couple times and it stretched too much for his liking plus the ones he tried had hard and soft teeth. Ms 362’s, 460’s and 461’s. Small saws are the ms 193t’s and 200t’s

    I found 10 loops of 30”/ 98dl RM 0.063” on eBay for $140 Shipped.

They were once used & I had Jasha clean them up & sharpen them for $7/loop.

    It was cheaper than purchasing.

They go well with a 461/660.

Local dealer price in book was 575$ for 100’ roll of rm, but his price in book on 3/8” .50 klassic square was 475 for 100’ roll. Might have to see if tree service wants that. Then either sharpen round on my grinder or learn how to hand file square. Only thing is some stuff really gets beat on yard trees. Might end up just buying loops like he has been or might need to try and talk him into Oregon or Carlton. Even got a couple of the tri link brand to try neither of us liked it .

I would encourage not going with full chisel.

I know doesn’t hold up as well in dirty wood, he likes yellow code chain. 3/8 .50 stihl rs full Comp. No half or full skip. He’s used a few green label chains when they were out of that rs but he does a fair amount of plunge cuts with and 18-20” bar on larger tree stumps. And the one climbers new favorite saw is the muffler modded and timing advanced 193 t. He bought a second one for me to do because he likes the first one so much. Just did a ms 362c for them and they like it a lot too. Only thing he said is it wouldn’t stay idling all the time. I told him how to reset the m tronic so hope that does it.

I don't know what Stihl has to offer but Oregon 72DPX and Carlton A1EP are both yellow label semi-chisel chain.
