Friend of mine has a wood fired hot tub at her place, and she says there's a big difference between ash and oak when it comes to heating the water also. But you know, we all burn what's available and with all of the ash dying, it's best to run as much of it through the stoves as we can. Just loaded some in my stove a few minutes ago. 22 dgrees here this morning.

It would be interesting to see what the "difference" is that she's talking about. 132 lb of ash or oak both kick out a million BTU's when burned.
