After all of the work to gather firewood, it's time to start making it go away.
We started our first fire of the season this past weekend.
It got down in the 20's Sunday morning. We've had a fire going since.
How long have you guys been burning, or are you still holding out?

I've been off and on for a few weeks, mostly off. We lit up sunday and have been going since. Weather hacks say it's supposed to get back to high 60's end of this week so we'll probably break again. Still packing it in the basement. I usually get about 2.5 cord down there.

As of last night. Discovered glossy junk mail ain't so good for starting fires, it tends to smolder instead of burn. I'll grab a bunch of recycle paper from work today.

If it’s glossy it ain’t worth trying to light. Around here they have a couple weekly papers that are free. For sale and wanting to buy ads. I grab a hand full every week, printed on regular newspaper.

Yep. I used regular newsprint last night and it worked great. We get a weekly ad paper that is mostly plain so I'm gonna start saving them.
