In my case, I just bought a whole new case assembly and rebuilt the saw around it with the parts that I salvaged from the MS660 that was eating up new piston and cylinder kits like a cookie monster. That worked.

Today the saw started right up and runs well -- new bearings, new crank shaft, new cylinder, new piston, etc. Total time was not much more than a typical top end rebuild, maybe another hour or two.

Why was it eating top ends ?

Pressure test and vac ?

Bad decomp ?

It makes you better when you find the cause
