Sometimes when I get aggravated with something that refuses to run right, I drag something out of my "Hey, it still has compression" pile.

This 024 AV Wood Boss looked like it had been literally buried and dug up. 1 carb kit and fuel line later, it started on the 4th crank.

They just don't make em like they used to.

I have my pos Dolmar 111 sitting there again.
This thing has been a thorn in my side for a while now. One day it runs fine, one day it wont.
Fired it up today. Started fine. Idles fine.
Slight hesitation hitting the throttle, and surges like crazy wide open.
I cranked on the H screw some and it seemed to make no change.
I got pissed and just threw it back in the truck and grabbed a different saw to carry on with.

If it didnt have a brand new OEM $65 recoil on it, I would just toss it in the field and put a few rounds through it.
I kind of want to like it, but I think I might just part the thing out before I do shoot it.

Yeah it looks old to me too. I got it from a older gentleman’s garage when he passed away, it was about perfect size for hitting the pawl in lol.
Upholsterer's tack hammer. Has a magnetic tip to hold the tack in place to help working in awkward angles on furniture.

Could'nt tell in the pics, is it the Chinese Zama carb? If so put it in the round filing bin and get a Tillotson from @Definitive Dave

The C3A could have been made in three different places depending on the year of manufacture. Some were made in Japan, some in Hong Kong, and some in China. The Japan and Hong Kong carbs are miles ahead of the later Chinese ones, but personally I think the Tilly runs better than any of them.

The new Tilly, the “Ex-Change” are the same China carb that’s available for $20 with an Tilly marked cover on them.

To the best of my knowledge, the Tilly 43b is no longer in production. I have one or 2, but it seems that they are finicky and tough to rebuild well. They were made in Ireland.
