View attachment 137791 Did another Chinese cylinder this one I'm thinking about giving this to a Ope member who would like to have a hotrod 660 but haven't decided yet or not because I might put this on one of mine don't really need it but I'm weird that way. Lol.
gonna use a 288 piston on that?

Passed on a 380 for 100 yesterday and then walk right into this today. I just couldnt say no to this one. :p

Lol. Karma no not really but if I do give it away I will have to make it to where every one gets a chance at it that's the tricky part I guess.

In a few of the firearms forums I'm a part of guys do "karma" giveaways. The giver announces the giveaway and a closing date. Anyone who wants a chance to win said item replies with an "I'm in". On the designated draw day the giver takes all the names of the participants, puts em in a hat, stirs well, and draws one.

Karma decides the rest...

Good stuff for sure.

OK I'll sleep on this tonight. So is there a thread I need to go to or do I just start a new one.

I'd think you'd just start a new one. Never seen such a thing done around here. Closest thing we've got here is the Swap Meet thread that's a sticky at the top of the Chainsaws section. Always thought that was a pretty cool thread, I just don't have enough bits to swap... yet.

Lol. You need to throw a bigger huck out. OK I'll most likely just start a new thread on it and I'll most likely won't get any sleep tonight thinking about it. Lol. :eyepop:

Have seen this done as a “Pay it forward” thread.

The beauty of a pay-it-forward thread is in order to accept something, you've got to have something to give. So a guy accepts an 026 jug and a short time later offers up a carb from a 385xp or some such. Personally, I really love these threads too, even though I never feel like I've got anything to give, or worth giving (my collection of toys and assorted accessories is pretty small).

Not bad checking it over.
cool.gif

Topend through plug hole looking at cylinder ext side looked sweet.
Was missing 2 fasteners and 2 tank nuts on the upper left av mount

. Cant believe they didnt rip the right top cylinder handle av due to this.
3 wrong recoil fasteners = I have.
Missing tank handle insert = " ".
Looks like someone had made and rerun the on/off wire to coil over time. Routed wrong which I will try and make right.
Oh the usual inner clutch cover deform I will fix later too.

What I'm going to do is get another piston and cylinder for Stihl ms660 and I'm going to do some magic on it and then I will start a thread on it for some lucky person to win it.

If that partner is a S55 I might be interested...

Yes it is and was told it ran but I have not touched it or have any clue. He said the recoil spring had broke. It is hanging outside the saw.
I told the folks on CR I will sell it as is as it sets pho I can not back up a saw I know nothing about.

I never even tried to turn it over as I was just going to throw up on shelf or part it out.

Ms460 ive been working on,
Came to me with broken clutch springs and a leaky clutch side seal.

So I pulled the cylinder cause I thought she might have leaned out..

Cylinder looks clean, what do you think,
Will she need a new piston?

Does the piston skirt feel ruff and is there any transfer of any kind in the cylinder?

Looks like a bad airfilter to me.

Meteor piston has wider skirts, but is considerably heavier.

If that meets skirt to cylinder was clearance, I’d add a new top caber ring (yes, just the top one) and run it again.
