Why you gotta hate on my work? That was one of my best running saws!

Just kidding! It wasn’t me! Haha

Serious question: Is the “sanded pin” and scored up piston a result from debris left in the crank case/cyl from the previous work done?

I have my own to still open
I bet you have a pretty good idea of what it looks like in there...

The pics of the two dozen or so that have already been redone all look pretty much the same...

Hopefully yours is salvageable and won't need cyl replacement.

Nice save on this one.

Great work as usual.

Doc should have some time free. He only works 7am to 10pm 8 dayz a week.
If there was only 28 hours in a day.
One of the hardest working guys I know. Day in, day out.
Kevin is the other.
Got nuthin but love and respect for the Long Island saw guys.
Very generous as well. [emoji106] [emoji481]

I will say this; the Long Island people I have interacted with recently are absolutely amazing! Extremely generous, very caring, down to earth and more stubborn than a Jersey Mule! I was fortunate to interact with the Nassau County Firefighters around Christmas time as well and maintain contact with a couple of them. Such a great group of people! You all have changed my previous (less than stellar) views of LI folks and I am quite happy for it.

Made a mistake taking on another builders shoddy work. The builder shall remain nameless, but this is the last of their saws my hands will touch.

A bit of piston slap, I wonder why it’s rubbed. A stock pin don’t fit, as the piston mods messed up the pin bore. Well, let’s just sand a pin down to fit!

Piston in bore had more than .008 of room to move. Compared with a new meteor.

Piston mods messed up the pin bore?

The piston is probably bent and collapsed from contacting the head.

Pulled down a NE 350 yesterday evening for new oem partition and metal clamp. Could see where it was sliding loose with the plastic clamp.

Cylinder still was like new with nice crosshatch. Piston like new too.

I wanted to test it so bad but was pouring down like crazy.
So here is what I came up with for down cut test indoors.

Now to do the 351.

Worked on the 038->038 Mag build today. All assembled, the new Mag bing carb came in the mail, got it all hooked up and fired. Did a couple test cuts and adjustments. It feels like it needs more carb. 4 strokes like a champ but just doesn’t feel like it has the power it should. Its stout as is, but just feels like it wants more.

Mag II p/c, conservative intake/exhaust widening and polish, opened up lower transfers, bgd, mm, new carb, new steel mesh filter. Stock timing numbers, didn’t adjust i/e heights

Suggestions?
