Finally got a very clean West German 024S on my bench again.

This is gonna get the full ported 026 44mm top end treatment, 026 flywheel and blue coil, new Walbro oem 194 and rare fine metal screen air filter I saved.

I’ve got a nice clean 16” Stihl bar for it. I’m gonna try my best to keep this little sleeper for myself.

Very nice...Along with that rare filter its good to see that it has the proper hight 024 early rear cover ....I see plenty of the higher ones without having the other shaped cylinder cover in front .

I think so...the 024 was Stihls 42cc pro grade saw.

That’s what I thought. There’s not a lot of information on them that I can find

There basically a earlier version of the 026, they put taller plastics on the 026 for the larger topend and filter. I have one, it’s no where near as nice as Al’s. Needs the mofo treatment someday.

You can convert an 024 S to an 026, you can not convert an 024, the stroke is shorter.

If it needs an oiler, you may not like it!

Otherwise, good saws.

I wonder if they are similar to what is mentioned about the 064-066 with the 64 supposedly having better timing?

Stihl 034 that’s still giving me carb problems and still only wants to run on choke. Even after cleaning and rebuilding carb twice. BTW it’s not an 036 pro. That’s just a really nice set of covers I got from a member here

New impulse,fuel line,filter. Changed coil out for a known good one just for the heck of it but still only running on choke. Guess I’ll be finding another carb,which I hate to do because I’m wanting to sell this one and it’s gonna take more outta my pocket now
