Is there anything worth salvaging off this?
Needs carb kit, lines who knows what else..
Owner of the dealership I work at, his Dad was going to toss it, gave it to me instead..

Had bar oil in the fuel tank..

Or, should I just shoot it? For science.

Go the shooting route. I have a couple runners if you want one.

Don't matter, but a video would be great.
Thats the plan.
Will likely have to wait until Saturday. Looking at rain, and I'm not taking down any of my rifles after they get wet for this thing.

.300WM, 100 yards, common 180gr psp I'm thinking..
If it holds together, I can try other calibers.

Ok for a while now I have been thinking about changing the chain break cover on my 064 so I went ahead and did it just had to drill and tap the hole that was already there like the ms660s have don't really know why Stihl didn't do this in the first place.IMG_20190521_122907.jpg IMG_20190521_143006.jpg

Well tore the 346 down to cases. Starting from scratch all cleaned up. 412C56FD-7ECA-4265-A690-F36979999DAA.jpeg

However I did find when I pulled the cylinder it was spotless. Don’t know what I felt and must have been seeing oil streaks piston is spotless as well.
Don’t see how the boot and partition wall could have been leaking after pulling it off. Solid ring of hondabond all the way around all 3 sealing surfaces. Already have bearings, seal hda191 carb 357 base and filter on the way. I don’t have any idea where it was leaking from before. It shouldn’t leak going back together though.
Going to do this one up as well same as has been the case can’t turn the cylinder but will gasket delete it muff mod already done will match the lower trans, widen exhaust not sure what else I’ll do from there.

Make sure the bottom of the intake tract doesn’t sit cocked on top of the flange wall of the cases when the cylinder sits down. That happened to me on my 350/346 build.

Already ground it down. Before it tricked me thinking it was tight the last time. Note the first pic of last post. No part of the case contacts it.

Well, I opened up an Asian 660 today that I had got back from a builder some time ago (I am no longer in touch with him). I figured I would adjust the port timing a bit like I did with my Flying Tiger 660, which responded really well to my changes. I though the saw had a Cross P+C, but it turns out it has a Cross cylinder and a Huztl piston and clips (with ears)!

It ran OK, but I'm glad I took it apart. I'll put a Meteor piston in, and improve the port timing and see what happens!

Oh well, things often don't go as smoothly as you think they will!

Got the new cylinder and piston on my sons echo cs 670. Git it all togeather and did a quick test fire and now off to bed. Will finish sharpening chain tomorrow and hopfully get it into some ash. Oh need 3 more bolts i will pick up tomorrow for the recoil. It has mix match bolts so might as well make it propper while im at it.

Made some cookies with the echo. Pretty strong saw so far. Should get better once we get a few tanks on it. Just got to sharpen the chain a little.more aggressive. Ash is quite hard. Dont think that saw will have any trouble pulling a good sharp chain. I like when you can just hold the back handle and it will pull itself through.
