I got some stuff here Deeter that you might wanna try. It's a thinner version of winch rope. I picked up a few feet but haven't tried it myself yet.

Of course then you might tear something else up. Lol
Shoot me a PM with your address and I'll send it to you if you want.

I had some bigger rope I used, it’s the same size as what’s in the 088.
There’s a groove wore in the recoil housing. I think that’s most of the culprit. If I break this bigger rope I’ll probly back off the timing a bump and get a new housing.
Thanks for the offer though.

Had a guy come by yesterday afternoon and pick up a saw I fixed for him. He’s carrying a small saw case and asks if I’d have a look at a saw for a friend of his. Says “bet you haven’t seen one of these”....Lol! The other two were dropped off a while ago with same directions. “When you have time, can you get this running.....it’s for a friend

Anyone ever work on a 056? I just worked on one today and all I can say is I never want to work on one ever again. Most over complicated, over engineered and difficult saw I’ve ever worked on. You have to remove the entire top handle/cover and gas tank just to get to the topend/intake boot/impulse line. Real cherry on the top is the fuel tank has to be split to replace the fuel line. A 2100/288 from the same era is way easier to work on.

I have 2 in the queue right now. Tough, tank of a saw but you are 100% correct with being over complicated.

You CAN change the fuel line without splitting the tank. If you have a long handle curved tip hemostat and some dexterity it can be done. The hardest part is getting the old line off cleanly. I took 3 ‘links’ of the blade out of one of those super cheap snap-tip box cutters, locked it in the hemostat and gently cut the line at the barb. It took a few tries, but i got it cut and then was able to remove the old line. I put a little oil inside the end of the new line to help ease sliding it onto the barb.

You have to keep in mind when it was made and where it was made .The Germans being Germans are stubborn bull headed bunch .Swedes being Swedes are a tad bit are more deeper thinking lot .
The Germans already had powerful saws and the Swedes came up with speed and power at the same time .I've operated a few 056 's never owned or worked on one .I have only one 2100 Husky and a 281 and have wrenched on both although just minor stuff .

I did a fuel line on mine without splitting the tank....it's a real pain in the dick, but it can be done. Long needle nose or those doctor forceps/roach clip things are your friend.

I’m gonna have to get a pair of those hemostats. I think I’ll still let you guys work on the 056’s. I’m avoiding them. I’d much rather have a 064 or 288 from the same time period.

That is why I like the Elastostart handles, that little bit of extra give prevents a lot of breakage (both of the rope and the assembly). For the 066/660s I order the one with the thicker rope (the inside spool is larger than a 440/460).

Handle/Rope part # 1122 190 3400.

First rope was the used assembly
Second rope was all brand new assembly including new elastostart.

Process of elimination with the fuel system on this 4300. Dealer couldn't figure it out. It's definitely the carb, primer bulb will only fill half way with fuel. It'll start run for a little bit, get lean and die.

pressure/vac tester is your friend. Answers a lot of questions right there on the bench
