Yes understood on cat removal. The plumbing on these is not like the average bear though.

I think I open up the exit side also( can't remember, it's been awhile).

Well crap! Anyone have a service manual for a EU 6500 ISA. Seems my parts breakdown does not include a heat [sound] shield that I have. Having a heck of a time figuring out where it went. I normally take pictures but with the parts manual I figured I was good. WRONG!!:bash: CJ

I don't know if someone else chimed in Gary, but the maroon coil is the higher rev limit coil. Black is lower RPM and blue is unobtanium--only like 300 were ever made.
As far as you know, were any of the 13.5 K coils black? Or are all the black ones 12.8 k?

I gotta no proof, Kev. Just always went with the maroon as it was guaranteed to be higher RPM.

I've only had one black coil on the four 630/64/79xx saws I've owned, which was a jury rigged replacement.

It's also been my understanding that red was 13.5 and black are 12.8. I recently had a saw come in where the owner thought it was all original and it should have been a red coil but it was black. That's the reason I asked

Very early 7900/7300/6400 have 13.5 black coil and different flywheel

That may have been what I had

The IPL has an obvious change in part number when the black low rev coils started. It looks as if the 6401, etc. were standard with the black low RPM.

I still have that black coil that came with the 2002 6400. It had a taped on plug wire so I assumed it may have been replaced with the low RPM coil, as my 2003 had the red one.

I'm curious now. I'm gonna have to throw that coil on and put a tach on it.

Ok so kitty 86'd....
Just opening the area you circled would still have restriction through the "tube" to the exit and screen, no?
