4 1/2lb Tri Tip roast. Liberal coat of Kosher salt and fresh cracked black pepper.
Grilled to an internal temp of 150*. Too well done for me but we have friends over and the majority won.
Maybe I need new friends, or at least the friends need new wives.

Leave it up to women to ruin a perfectly good cook on a piece of meat :D

Never cooked a trip tip, gotta go all in for one soon.

Did three slabs of baby back ribs on the smoker.
We had some friends over to shoot guns, watch the eclipse and drink adult beverages.

Me neither! can't get them here.

I need to go to school on the Tri-tip. The wifey does not like medium rare meat -- but she loves some smoked meat with the pink smoke ring.
I've been doing brisket, butts, chickens, turkeys, tenderloins and sausages quite a while. Someone explainify where this tri-tip comes from on the cow?

As do I, because we never cut meat like that either. ( maybe srb08 can help) as he just cooked a tri tip.

Might try something new if Mama likes it. Thinking about smoking a couple hundred dove breasts, ( Maybe ) I have a few to try out.

We did that after one of our hunts a number of years ago. I don't remember if it was good or bad. Since we haven't done it again, I assume it wasn't the best.
I hope yours turn out better.

Looks like you had a good hunt.

My wife found a couple hunks of uncooked Corned Beef in one of the freezers and wanted Pastrami, so I coated them in cracked black pepper, smoked for four hours and steamed for eight more.

After being cooled and ready to be sliced.

Sliced and ready to eat.
I planned on freezing three packages but my wife and I ate almost a whole pile, while cleaning up the mess. Another pile will end up on Reuben's tonight.

Hey hey! Somebody had a good day in the field. Dove was one of the first pieces of wild game I ever ate as a boy. My grandma used to have squirrel on the Sunday lunch table if pappaw whacked several on Saturday.
These are good memories.

I know this sounds crazy -- but I've never had a Reuben in my life. But that looks TASTY! thanks for posting.
