I'm in the process of rebuilding a 346xp, and need to remove the remanding gasket material. I have always used a razor blade and small wire brush. But I'm always scared I'm going to gouge the magnesium. What are your preferred methods?

Razor blade then brass wire wheel on an electric impact just a bit. If you use a wire wheel make sure it spins in the opposite direction of the way the bristles are leaning. So basically if you have a well used wheel that has spun clockwise all it's life, don't spin it counter-clockwise; it'll be too aggressive.

Roloc disc with the very soft/fine scotchbrite(grey I think) seems to work quick and easy

I stick with a razor blade
If theres any spot on the case or cylinder thats being stubborn, I’ll hit it with acetone and get a new razor on it. Razors are cheap, I’ll happily go through 2 or 3 single edge razors on each saw

I do the same. A little carefully placed paint stripper also works great on stubborn gaskets.

Been using a blade from a ceiling tile/box cutter knife. When the angle of the dangle is right, it goes pretty good. Open to new ideas, as always trying to improve.

Scratching the surface is ok as long as it’s not a gouge. The sealer will take care of it. I always use sealer.

I still have most of the can of this stuff. Really works well, no doubt that is why it is no longer available.
