Yeah I’m pretty sure the OEM gasket material is red

For what it’s worth, all factory original 1127 series I’ve torn down had red Dirko factory sealant. After I’m done, they have gray (motoseal) sealant as in your pic. Wondering if you’re not the first one in this deep.

I've seen both red and gray from oem saws. Usually red. Although with that much sealant on it, my guess is that it was messed with before. As to the cause of the failure, it was heat related, not straight gassed. Could be as simple as using a dull chain.

That's what I used too. I let it cure for two days, it passed pressure/vac test and I reassembled the saw last night. It runs pretty good, not sure what an 029 runs like stock but my buddy should be pretty happy. I even run his chain through my Timberline sharpener lol.
