Someone mentioned testing Castrol brand oil I’m not 100% sure if they make Stihl oils anymore or not but I know they used to make all of stihls oil back when they used to have the orange bottle, the white bottle semi synthetic and the silver bottle ultra. In fact I’ve seen Stihl oil bottles with Castrol right on front so you may have even done some testing of it by accident with the orange bottle. I think for the cheap oil tests later some of the alco no smoke two stroke should be included. 1.19$ a bottle for a gallon mix up here but maybe the poulan oil or some husky oil will work since I’ve heard they are the same oil but not sure if it’s true
In the U.S. Stihl oil is made buy a blender called Omni specialty. In all other countries Stihl oil is made buy Castrol.

Only ported the first generation 550xp. In a woods port the 550xp will run right with a 346, now if you really push things "bigger carb and so on" the 346 will still be stronger, at least for me. I still prefer the 346 for a number of reasons, but I will say the 550 feels really nice in the woods.
Not sure why I would want or worry about another 550 though. The ported 346xp OE I run has the 357xp intake/carb/filter on it and running a modded top exhaust in the muffler with fish gills on the side. Runs like a hound hit with hot grease!!!Its loud though and the only thing I dont like is it will flood easily if u arent spot on when cranking

Base oil for the stihl orange is from a local oil refinery, Calumet Refinery, and it's blended/additive package is also at a Shreveport facility as Andyshine77 stated at Omni. I've been to both facilities. The same stock oil is in Royal Purple and Pure Guard (black bottle with green labeling).

Correct Omni is a blender, they don't make the base stocks. Only the companies with refining capabilities truly make their own oils, all other just buy the base stocks and additives and mix them together. Oftentimes the companies that produces these base oils and other chemicals keep the best for themselves.

I wouldn't unless you're just itching for another saw. The 357 boot, carb and filter is a good setup. I ported one a few years back that won a 50cc saw build off that had that setup. We had to run stock chain to keep things fair.

I shoot 204 Ruger. Wife 22ppc. 200 and 300 yard. We used to do 100 yard 22 lr and 17hmr as well.
Awesome! I had a Cooper 57m .22 and a few custom KIDD 10/22. I like this Kidd with a 2 stage trigger at 12oz20190518_112437.jpg

Remington stock AAA Black Walnut.jpg
I've owned and shot a lot of 22's (custom and factory), including Anschutzs, but decided to have one built. AAA black walnut with Canjar trigger and Broughton match barrel. I use to shoot benchrest competition with it but not much time to practice so just squirrel hunt.

Yes sir, thank you. Been working, repairing OPE on the side and riding mountain bike
Good to hear. You folks stay safe and healthy.

Talked with an ol’ Jarhead buddy of mine last week from back in the 80’s who lives down in Morgan City...positives are on the increase there, still climbing...hopefully nothing takes too much of a grip there...as well as anywhere else for that matter.

Target - Eley HP's 2014.jpg That's a 5-shot group at 50yds with the same match 22 using hunting amm0 - Eley 22HP subsonics. Eley tenex will consistently shoot in the 0.2's if you can hold it. Light trigger makes a big difference in hunting also. My Canjar is set at 1.25lbs but will go 4 ozs.

Beautiful stock...I’ve got several Weatherby’s that look somewhat the same, grade-wise, only in Turkish Walnut.

Buck 7pt. - 416 yds.jpg
Here's my weatherby markv with a Krieger barrel, 1:9 twist, I shot this 7-pt with chasing two Does at 416yds (buck was walking not running). It's in a 7STW and I use a mil-dot reticle for holdover. My 2nd dot below center perfect at 500yds. He looked a lot bigger in that scope at 14x.

Nice Mk V...I see you a lefty like me...but I’ve always bought RH bolt-actions. I learned back in the 70’s, I could cycle RH bolt-actions being a lefty, just as good as RH’s, and stay on target if a follow-up shot needed. Not only that...heap easier to sell if you want, as far as a RH bolt. Which I’ve never sold any of mine, even from those years...but the majority dictates if you ever choose to sell.

Good eye. I only buy left-handed bolts but doubt I’ll ever have a grandson or granddaughter to hand them down too. 3D5BDC94-96B1-43B0-8F7B-78EF1106CE2F.jpeg
Here’s another lefty I had built. 264 mag with #8 contour Krieger barrel 1:8.5 twist.
