What oil is best? and what ratio?

Like this is hard to figure out? If you have a drive chain on a motorcycle, do you think it will survive longer if you keep it flushed with oil?

How about a four-stroke that looses oil pressure for a little bit? Maybe a two-stroke that is running 20-1 versus someone that runs 100-1 or 80-1 or 50-1?

My Dad ran our outboards for bait digging on 20-1 reclaimed 4-stroke motor oil. He had a tank of proper water-cooled two-stroke oil that he used for starting and heading out in the bay. When he got to open water, he switched tanks to the 20-1 motor oil.

He had to de-carbon the engines a few times, but we never had any engine problems. I wouldn't doubt those outboards are still running some where.
