Looking for opinions based on experience...and what ever boils to the top will be on the "Ultimate Old Man Saw" I built.

Looking for light weight, but still able to throw chips. Right now it has the new Oregon Speed Cut system with a 8 pin sprocket. Thats a narrow curf .325. But its 20 inches...want to go to a light weight 18inch and possibly a 9 pin sprocket for .325 or 8 pin for 3/8..... I haven't run the new chains from Husqvarna or the new 3/8 from Oregon on these 60cc saws yet.

I dont know lot bout jonsred but on my ms361 and 036 60 cc saws i run a 18 or 20 in 9 pin .325 stihl rs chain and it pulls it pretty darn well. I personally as well as most guys that are even die hard husky and jonsred fans run stihl chain.it cost more but its deff better chain.

What size is the inner spline on the rim? I think the .325 x 9 is only in standard, not small or (stihl) mini

I'd put a 18" versa cut bar and a 3/8 square chain if you want to throw chips and get something done in a fast order. I run a 20" versa cut and 24" light weight total on my 2260 with 3/8 square on it. I can't see putting anything on it shorter than a 20" bar that's what the 2153/2253 is for

I run a lightweight Tsumura 20" on mine and only gives 18" of usable bar ahead of the dogs which irritates me when I need to noodle something. A 24" is not a good fit, tried it with a GB bar and didn't like the weight and not enough snort. Wish I could find a small mount 22"-I may special order one from Cannon if I get the urge. Also, 3/8" chain on this saw is the only thing I'd run myself.

My muffler modded 2260 handles a 24" just fine. I noodle with it all the time. It's not like noodling with my ported 2171's by any means but it does good

You are right, it does the job pretty well but we all have our own definitions of “pulls with authority” that likes to get mentioned on the site so often. Lol

This summer when there was some storm cleanup to do the 24” went on the 2260 and it worked great for the extra reach and cleaning up all the down pines so there is certainly a place for it for me too, just not for regular all around cutting.

It all depends what your definition of authority is, if you consider its only a 60cc saw it does it with authority but if you're expecting it to pull like a 70cc saw then you're not going to be happy
