I have a Lincoln 210MP at home. It's all I need at the moment, though when I do get to welding, the cycle time annoys the ever living sh!t outta me.

What type of hoods do you guys like? I have tried all sorts of the auto darkening ones, short of the extremely high end ones and have never been impressed.

It seems like no mater how dark I set it and how fast I set the response time after welding for long periods of time my eyes get sore

Home, garage use. Lincoln Mig 215 and a speedglas hood. Use flux core .035 and .045 wire. Not a professional, but works for me. Everyone else, just has crap. LOL! ;)

The knob is just to shut off the shield gas, just leave it open if you have a solenoid on the line. The red slider is what will control your amperage. Set your welder to AC for aluminum, DC- for steel. Use 100% argon.

Well there is my first problem ,had no idea the red thing was a slider or controlled the amperage ,do i move the slide while welding like a foot pedal ? or just find a happy spot and run a bead ? I was told this wire feed will not tig aluminum ,but have not tried it yet /

If it slides you can use it just like a foot pedal. Or is could just be a switch, which then you have to adjust your amps on the machine and wait on the puddle.

For wire I use a SP175 Lincoln,Bought a Miller Diversion 180 to learn tig and then ended up trading a set of torches for a Syncrowave 250 . That welder I like.

At our shop we have a Miller 180 for general welding, Miller 251 with 0.045 dual shield, Miller 350P push/pull whip setup for Aluminum, Lincoln AC/DC Tig 300. At home I have a Hobart Handler 120.
