Just had some 201 T's come in the shop and I need to test compression on them. What do you guys recommend? I tried an adapter from 14mm to 10mm and it says everything in my shop including new stuff and a friends 201 T only has 90 -100 lbs of compression? WTF Can a 3mm shorter thread on the adapter give a false reading?

What head unit do you use? I use a snapon I got cheap and have a 10mm attachment to use with it.

Isn’t it if the valve isn’t actually at the end of the tube, if you have any kind of adapter you lose 50psi? I’m pretty sure that’s what I remember. I had bought a craftsman tester first and if I used a little screw on adapter or whatever it always blew low. Soon as I switched it was right on and pretty sure exactly 50psi dofferent

A US gauge and a Snap on both I cross checked and they are accurate. The problem is in the adapter length or it leaks.

Well that would explain it! I was unaware of that. I would like to get a specific gauge for this task. Any ideas?

This is mine. It was nuts on. If you want I’ll send it to you so you can borrow it for your stuff and try it to see the difference. Unless that’s what you already have.

The 10mm was the hardest for me to find when I got mine. But you can search eBay for the tube itself and people seem to want around $40 a pop

I got a 10 m/m adapter with a valve in the end from specialty chainsaw, it screws on the end of the tester hose, I left the other valve in the hose, that does not seem to be a problem.
My 550 husky shows 177 lbs, base gasket delete.

(edit) Actually it is Design Technoledgy, home of the tiny tach.
