i have in the past, the thing with walnut oil is uv light makes it harden. mineral oil never hardens. ive dont side by side tests of walnut oil vs mineraloil and ill never used mineral oil again , unless i have to for allergy reasons.

Not that hard, but it does not last on stuff outside (inside it is fine).

Just find a bunch of Walnuts (I got plenty if you want them), wait till the turn brown, fill a 5 gal bucket half full, cover them with boiling water, put a lid on it, shake it now and then and leave it for a week, then strain. Wallah!!!

I even have a bunch I never used if you want to try it out. Northern NJ is not too far from here (I used to work in Orangeburg).

Here is a chart I've used for quite awhile, shows the average moisture content of wood in different areas of the USA. Seems to have worked well so far test wood with meter and when it in this range I bring in building for final seasoning and build my project.

A slice of a walnut root ball that I cut up for a (now former) coworker.

I think it looks nice, has personality the way it looks.

I have a short, incomplete, video as I cut it on YouTube.
Coworker took the video, I forgot to set up a camera.

And for size reference a few pictures, Dolmar PS-7900 & 36" Iggesund Forest.

OK Wood Tics.
Here's a question for all of you.
I have been playing around with automotive polyurethane clear coat.
Have any of you tried this before to seal wood?
Thus far I have only used it on smaller pieces.
I normally use it on my neighbour's cars but spray a couple chunks of wood with any left overs.
Next question is.
I'm using gallons of epoxy.
It's like spreading honey.
My thought is final finish with polyurethane car clear for the UV in it.
Any input and wisdom would be appreciated.

Oh here's an example in epoxy still needs final coat though.
Considering polyurethane auto finish as I can spray it.
Reseña I'm asking this is the epoxy is more flexible.
The auto finish is hard as plexiglass glass.

I haven’t used any automotive stuff, but I’ve been thinking about trying some.

What kind of epoxy are you using?

I’ve been using west system epoxy with great results.

I’ve been finishing with sayerlack and again it’s been great!

I'm using an epoxy the surfboard shapers use here.
Guy imports it from the states.
No idea who makes it. He has his own Co name on it.
Sets up kind of fast but good uv protection and super hard surface.
Epoxy on sand it off till its just right.
3-5 applications.
2 apps is OK.
