The good Dr. put the heart of a Husky (pistone) Sounds Italian doesn’t it? into my trusty Schteel power saw. (sounds powerful doesn’t it?) Then it shook the recoil screw right out into the snow, never to be scene again. Only logical explanation eye can think of dot dot dot. Small price toupee. The dang thang rips pretty good. Just some good natured ball busting. Locktite FTW!

Duane, that kind of looks like my Stihl 026 PRO. Is that what it is? If so, no wonder it runs rather well. I will never sell mine.

Yes, a nice little 026 (non-pro) with some fancy ports and a husky single ring piston. Also has an 044 intake. All courtesy of my friend @drf256

18 x .325 SG chain makes for a little bit of cutting and a lot of stacking.

I certainly share your love for these things. There's a few living in my basement. :chuck:

You'll love the flippy cap. Husky knows how to make one that works great...

It's nothing new, I've got a few pictures, I'd rather post pictures of orange saws though. In reality I've seen all the major brands loose screws as well as have loose screws(these were mostly behind the saws) lol, or were they nuts :D.

When did you do the screw upgrade, before or after the cap?.....:)
I love me sum T27 screws! And that Husky flippy. The Stihl recoil cover screws are small diameter (head) and I suppose they don’t have the same “bite” as their larger brothers. This is jest grins and giggles. That’s how it is with me and my Power Saws...

DW, any updates on this saw? I’ve never owned a finger ported saw and wonder if the gains are sm, md or large? What say yee?
Been running it a fair amount cutting smallish firewood. It works well. Doc’s not sure it’s worth all the effort with the 194 (smaller) carb. With the larger 044 carb, it will tach higher (safely). That has to be good right?
7 pin with 3/8, 8 pin with .325. I really like running it and grab it often. Keeps the shelf queens in their place.

With the 044 carb, this setup makes more power than a traditional 026 pistoned ported saw.

I’m not sure if the fingers add that difference, or it’s the wider ports that the 246 slug allows. The single pin located in the center of the intake wall makes it hard for me to not consider adding fingers. I really should try one without fingers and this setup.
