Just thought I'd post some pics of the cylinder I just received. I've got a 288 project that I'm going to start working on and saw that the Warlock cylinders were on sale, I thought I'd get one and do a little grinding. It came yesterday and the plating is all messed up. I've seen a couple of threads about them and I thought they would be a little better than your average white box cylinder but the one I got must have skipped quality control. I'm not saying that all their cylinders are bad, just the one I got. I do have an OEM cylinder for the saw but don't want to grind on it until I try some timing changes on a cheap cylinder. I ended up ordering a Hyway cylinder that was more than I wanted to spend but at least they are on sale this weekend.

Update: Got a full refund and they paid the return shipping. Good people to deal with.

Ya that was made on a Monday fo sho. I do the same, buy warhawks when they r on sale to practice grinding before doing it on an OEM. I have a few saws that turned out really nice and just left them on. I dont cut everyday so they r not time tested but i have not had any issues so far. Grind away Ronie! And keep us posted;)

That's good
I bought some from hl special
288 had missing plating
They just sent me two more and let me keep them.
Of the budget cylinders hyway has been the best runner's for me.

I got the Hyway cylinder and it looks pretty good. I've used a few Hyway cylinders and they are by far the best Asian cylinders that I've seen.

I believe he is questioning whether or not the bore is out of round.

Hyway makes pretty good stuff for AM.
Ok, I haven't checked it with a bore gauge.

I dont own a bore gauge. I also don’t use many AM parts.

Use a caliper, confirm the piston crown is round, drop in bore upside down, and reference off the crown with a feeler gauge. Can also drop in right side up and reference off skirt and rotate piston while checking.

Seriously doubt the Hyway is out of round. The Warhawks I’ve tried were beyond total shít.

I just have a set of cheap telescopic ones. They don't have a gauge. Every Hyway I've used has looked good.

I just checked the squish on the Hyway and was a little disappointed that the squish was .030 without the gasket. So I ordered a piece of 2 1/4" bar stock and will get the squish down around .020. When I get it I'll start a thread on the 288.
