The WJ group thats on the bigger cc saws from Stihl /Husq and others...what carb kits fit...are there kits that fit most ?
So far i have used the ..K15-WJ kit (full inc needle ) .
What can be a pain on these carbs and what seems to be the fixes.

some of the main problem i see if the rotor ramp wore away. some units have a metal ball that the ramp rides on. also the brass check valve, oring, brass jet can give problems. i have a set of micro drill bits that i use on the brass jet that i turn by had to get the varnish out of it. also some of the wy series carb have a spring on the fuel pump side that help the diaphragm i have seen that spring missing where customer and dealer didnt replace it. cause the carb not to able to pump enough fuel

Opened up a WJ on a Stihl 066 yr 2001 to put a new metering diaphragm in it. Expected to see a button that hooked onto the fork in the arm (like ALL the kits i found had) . Just a button end on the existing one !...Everything else seemed the exact shape and hole locations ...just no button hook end. Im pretty sure its a long standing kit in this saw and was not in bad shape plus the saw was just getting service with a carb clean . Any one know if the WJ has this or have i just found a cobble ?

Seen several carbs where the new kit does not have the forked metering lever w/ captured diaphragm and vice versa. My guess is a diaphragm kit was installed. I try to keep the captured diaphragm with the forked lever and the plain lever with the button metering diaphragm, no mix/match. Both seem to work this way OK when done. Personally I prefer the captured version as it lessens the chance of a sticking needle and to my line of thinking a slightly quicker fuel response. Though I've noticed no difference in how well an engine runs with either. Why different ones are made for the same carburetor is anybody's guess, as I surely do not know why that is. All this is from different carburetors over the years, not with the WJ in particular.

There was a forked lever arm in there ..just no hook on the button . Here is the odd thing...put new hooked one and gasket in (lever hight was spot and pop off was solid) no fuel at all through .Dry carb after 20 pulls ! put old button one back in on top of new gasket ..pop in 2 fired and run on 3 . Runs spot on !

That is odd Simon. Wonder if the lever height needs to be different or something.
Really didn't make sense Steve as it checked out as per the correct hight information. This is why i wondered if folks who do the Stihl 066 660 regular (common saw on this site ) would chime in as its my first one ( WJ carb and saw) so dont have any comparisons.
