Could we get a little more info on this? Were they both running well and starting doing this or had they been sitting a while and you got them out and they didn't cut?

Could you have used the ethanol pump?

Nope. They don't have one. Only station around that has one is a citgo. Seen that happen plenty at work with boats people have borrowed or loaned out. So it does happen but wasn't what happened to me.

Best we can figure out is that they don't sell much of it. And it started to phase/distenend. But that's just our thoughts.

Sat a while, now won’t cut. I have no source of ethanol free gas within 40 miles so I add the ethanol remover to my gas.

Ok, that explains a lot. If they both sat a while with ethonol, the carbs probably have crud in them. If the fuel lines are good, you can fill them up with trufuel and add about an ounce of seafoam or berryman b12 to each one, crank them up and let them run until they run out. Should clear the crud out of them. I did that to a leaf blower and a pole saw and they both ran perfect after that. Or you can take the carbs off and manually clean them with carb cleaner.

I’d personally clean carbs up manually and also pull muffler on one if not both just to check for scoring. If it was the same gas and both quit wanting to run right in the same cutting session something went bad with the gas is my bet. Hopefully they didn’t score pistons but I’d want to make sure.

I have to drive about 20 minutes to get it. I store mine in metal 5 gallon cans with stabilizer. Plastic gas cans are for transporting NOT storing fuel. I've had so much trouble with ethonol in my outdoor power equipment that I don't use it anymore. I bought 4 metal cans and some stabilizer. It cost me a few bucks but I have not had any fuel related problems since.

I'm sorry, guys. I have been dealing with the remnants of a family tragedy and haven't been able to make time for these yet.

Ok, it’s finally cooler and things are settling down a bit personally. So, how do I get the muffler off of my 6400?

T27 wrench into the holes and a firm strong twist CCW.

A T-wrench comes in very handy.

You already have the bracket and the third bolt off.
There are two more bolts within those two large holes.

Start with a new fuel filter, carb clean and rebuild. Check the screen inside the carb. While carb is off, inspect the intake boot closely for damage.

I just ran out of willpower due to dealing with family *s-word. Who can take my money and fix this, maybe tune it up a bit in a reasonable amount of time? I have been dealing with my little brother’s suicide due to combat PTSD and his widow just called me, https://www.gofundme.com/f/billy-shepperson-family-fund
