I've had this for a long while but had been reading through some old threads and saw some similarities... Thought maybe someone here would know if it's a redmax base 40cc saw. I originally thought it was mtd rebrand. Now I see it's made as a McCulloch ms40a. Just wondering if anyone knows... Thank you in advance fellow saw nerds.

Just joined coming from AS. This saw is indeed a Zenoah Komatsu[Redmax] clone. I suspect Taiwan[ Jenn Feng] made. The Jenn Feng clones have diferent clutch , clutch tread and if is strato, a diferent air valve. Cris Pa in AS has a McCulloch version of this .

I had a Troy-bilt saw. I repaired it and sold it. If parts were not so hard to find it would have been a decent home owner saw. Easy to start, adequate power for lite use. Mine was a MTD though.1113161459.jpg

Sorry Wagnerwerks, but this one does not deserve it's own tread. My version of it. The crank looks like is made by drunk people in they'r first day at work[installed]. What hapened with'' Made in Japan '' ? Quality control?

The counter weights are undersized from casting and the needle bearing is squished by the crank halves. The flywheel side is Zenoah GZ 4000 crank, the rod and left bearing also, but the cluch side and bearing are Zenoah G5000. 12 mm left and 15 mm right.
