Today's challenge: Get this hung up red oak down without smashing the propane tank. Four other trees involved, two with significant spring pole action as they're bent but not broken. Took us 50 minutes to get it on the ground and cut into smaller pieces (not firewood)

On the one I did, I put a face cut in the 6' tall "stump" facing away from the tree. I then made a back cut opposite that. I then had Groundi pull it with the truck and it folded the stump down which broke off the rest of the tree from it. That moved the whole butt section back about 5 feet or so. I then made a bucking cut from the bottom shortening the stem a bit more. I retied the rope to the butt and had her pull it again. With about 3 attempts, she got it moving and pulled it out of the other large tree and it hit the ground.

Hey guys this thread is great. It's super cool to see pics of different wood being cut from across our great nation. Its a renewable rescource and it should be used as and be taken care of as such. Thanks for the pics fellow OPE members.

Just a little mostly dead lightning struck maple. Trunk was cracked from bottom to top. Came down nicely.

Forgot to put this here 70+ ft tall heart rot hickory it had a hard lean into neighors fence.
the heart blew out 10 inches of hinge wood lol
And it went the wrong way not bad didn't hurt the two fences not where i wanted it to go but it was fine.

Those bifurcated trees can be tricky as they'll sometimes separate once you start cutting them. Glad it came down in an acceptable fashion.

I don't like cutting them but eventually he would have had to pay for his neighbors fences
Gave the wood to another neighbor.

Great thread. I gotta get into my external harddrive and dig up some more tree removal pics.

Removed this 90 foot white spruce with a heavy back lean over a cabin, hollow at the base from carpenter ants and woodpeckers.
Climbed half ways up and made my cuts and pulled it over with the pickup with the lay between 2 powerlines.

Last recent job felled a 65 ft poplar with heavy side lean over a 12K volt powerline alongside the customers shed, garage and up against the house.

I run my tree service solo with no employees so I can't get "as the tree falls or me up the tree" pics. But the ones I take work ok.

Here's some burnt up 120 ft spruce I felled.
They were overhanging high voltage powerlines.
Last pic shows where I told the customer to sit in the lawn chair and the top won't hit it. She refused
