Tree Questions

I have a tree in my front yard that I do not know what it is and what the Black Spots are on the leaves.
Anyone know what this is?

Anyone???
We have seen a number of plants with spots (not only this tree).
Need to find out what is happening so as to make a decision on what to do.

Looks to be some variety of maple. I'm guessing the spots are some sort of fungus.

I think they call it tar spots or something. If it's what I think it is, your tree is safe. It only affects the leaves

Yep, Time standing Stihl nailed it.... Tar spot and fungal. Will not hurt the Tree but unsightly. Be sure to clean up all your leaves this fall to deture for next year.

I believe it's spread through wind, so given the right breeze, you could get it again next year...
