I gotta do the lower line on my grandpas truck. He says it is leaking. Go have a look and find two spots where it was spliced. One at tranny and one by front rad.
First thought was e tra tranny cooler someone.pulled off? But then thought when he baught truck 2 or 3 years old back in 07 ish it never had a hitch on it.

So why the spliced lines?

This half @$$ fix or what ever it is could have ruined the tranny if it wasny caught in time.

Think it only has about 120 kms on it. Pretty low for an 05

Someone's patch job for a rusted through line instead of replacing them, which is a pain but can be done.

Guessing by the pics, 2wd, GM truck?
If so, lines are usually under $40 and they dont get much easier to replace then on that style truck. I would replace both and be done.

That's not a fluid leak. That is Kentucky rustproofing. :eusa_doh:

I thought so the way the frame has that point in the front under the engine. 4wd doesnt have that.
Take the shield off the side of the trans, 10mm bolts. Turn the wheels all the way to the right, gets the idler arm out of the way and lowers the center link down.
Easier on a hoist to fish them through, but can still be done on jackstands.

I got it done this morning. Kind of a tight squeeze. No hoist, just ramps. Had to take off that cross member to get it in and was still quite tight to get in. Never seen the last post about turning wheels to gain clearance till just now. Wish i had of checked last night but too much going on write now.
Never did do the upper. No rust and looked good. Its been sprayed with undercoat.
