if you stack square bales of hay around the house it will help with heating it in the winter.
dried corn cob or walnut hulls is good alternative to fire wood if running low on wood.

Old Sawzall (reciprocating saw) blades make great guide bar rail cleaners. The 'tail' / tang cleans out many mounting holes, and you don't feel bad if you lose one. Wrap with electrical tape, duct tape, or heat shrink tubing, for a finished look. and to make them easier to find.

They also work well to stuff in the groove and hammer the rails closer. Just dont get over zealous in one spot or you will have to open it back up.
