Haven’t run my 064 in forever, and it’s the only 1122 saw I’ve ever run.

Took it and my 10mm 044 to help a buddy yesterday, and I used the 044 til we got to the bigger part of the trunk. First cut with the 064 and I was like, “this thing’s a turd. Wtf?”

Started looking at it tonight, took the top cover off and said, “huh... that doesn’t look OEM...”

What do you guys think? I can’t see any Stihl/Mahle/whatever castings, but can’t see all the way to the bottom of the jug.

the A on top makes me think its a oem
i bought a 036 once and it had a shiny cylinder like that and i thought it was aftermarket also but it was a oem

Can you see any marking on the side of the cylinder base? That's where you need to look, some Stihl's will have STIHL in the side of the transfers, but we don't see that here.

I bought a saw and I looked at same areas you did and wasn’t any markings I could see until taking cylinder off

I've never seen an aftermarket cylinder with the factory "fine" bore sizing stamped into the top of the cylinder, like dall said.

I have 2 064 cylinders.Both have 1122 & KS as a minimum.

I found my early 064 was not near as good a firewood saw as my 038 mag or 460. However once the bar length got to 32" + it really passed the other two saws up. The 044 probably wins with an under 28" bar.

I agree with the others, that cylinder may have been replaced, but I have never seen A or B on a non OEM jug.

Maybe it was replaced with a 660 P+C that does not have real good port timing.

That’s the thing... tried a 36” then a 25”. Put that exact same 25” on the 044 and was night and day.

I last cut w/ it probably 2 years ago shortly after buying & freshening it up. As I recall, fuel line, filter, impulse, carb kit—all OEM. New aftermarket A/V.

064’s have electronically limited coils, right? Possible I have it tuned fat as hell?

Some 064s have rev-limited ignitions and if they're tuned too rich, they won't run well at all.

I'm in the same thinking of others, yes it’s oem. But what oem and what’s timing # also the condition of it, it just may not be ported, like the other saws you’ve been using

That jug looks OEM to me. The wax mark on the top fin and just the general alloy color. KS jugs have that shine to them, it’s a pretty unique color that Mahle and AM just don’t have.

You won’t know till you pull it off. I bet it’s oem. I’d check the rest of the saw out, how does the piston look?

@dall The late model MS360 jugs made by Gillardoni have an AM shine to them. The top pad is also machined. They look AM. I bet that’s what you saw.

Mine didnt want to run right with the Walbro carb that was on it. For some reason it just wanted to run fat. Put a Tilly on it and she really woke up. Dont know the difference, but it worked.

Depends on what coil and flywheel you got.

Needle and seat set to high or wore out or to big of a jet.

I think there's too much being made about oem or non oem cylinders. Some am cylinders or pretty good in my estimation...

I have used, and like, a lot of AM cylinders, but I would not say any of them have the quality of OEM.

I have also used my fair share of AM stuff and most of the topends are good enough to keep a firewood saw going. I wouldn't think they would last as long as one for pro use tho.
