This is a stupid design.

For those who haven’t had the pleasure(?), it’s a 200t.

And, don’t give me the “aftermarket parts” chit.
We had the same rodeo with all OEM Stihl parts.

Some arrogant jackass save a quarter in production cost, maybe. [emoji848]

I like the MS 200 and the only thing i hate is the MS 200 T throttle linkage.

Real trick to getting it on. As it starts going on the studs line it up and get it in the hole. As you slide it in it all just goes in place.

Just going by the IPL, I got it this far.

Not sure I have the ‘U’ shape thing in right (circled in red).

I have since corrected the out of position kill switch hot lead contact spring.

It all works but hangs up a little. Trigger is not returning to idle position.

Looks good it will work with the carb built in. The spring on the carb will pull the trigger back.

I still think it is a silly design feature.

There is room and access for a regular screw clamp.

It that wouldn’t prevent dust getting in. I’ve not had a problem putting that on. For me it has been all about the angle. If the bottom half falls on first it is a real bear to get in. I’ve had best results getting the top started just a bit and then pushing it all on.

200T boots aren't that bad .A little trick is using a piece of chalk line to pull the carb end into position .Actually considering it's a Stihl it's the easiest one to work on .With the roller bearings mains it's a snap to work on .

I spent about an hour one day on my 200t assembling the throttle linkages. Kinda did my head in. Good ol saws.

After three or four hours of use the freakin’ ‘collar plate’ worked its way up and nearly off.

Good thing the ‘boot’ is glued on with 3M weatherstrip adhesive.

Give me a Poulan 2300 or a 2000 for a trim saw. Much easier to work on, if needed. No need for 5 feet of throttle wire or stupid designed boots.

That collar plate in OEM is straight sided. Looks like there is a ridge facing in toward the boot. First 200 I ever worked on I swore i'd never touch another one again. Got hired on at the tree company and they had 12 of them in service and a pallet of broken ones. Lol There's currently 18 200's in service. Once you work on them enough they are one of the easiest saws to work on. I can do a full rebuild with bearings and seals in less than 2 hours start to finish.
