That’s water oak it is a type of red oak but the wood looks greyer than southern red. The bark get smoother up the tree to. Definitely not in the white oak family.

Have a couple of dead trees in my yard located outside of Louisville Ky.
Not sure what kind thinking hickory but not positive.

Lots of black locust trees dying around here, if I ever do see them. Seems they are on the decline. I found a vertical main support of an old barn that collapsed was black locust, so maybe they had also been excessively harvested for barn building 100 years ago?

They are a short lived tree.
150ish years is the lifespan.

Might have just used what they had on the property when they built the barn.
