Red Elm? Heavy, wet, and stringy as hell.
What does it smell like?

I would go give it a whiff but my head is so stuffed up right now that I can't even Snell my own farts. I'll run a fresh split tomorrow and have my boy Smell it, what are we smelling for? I don't recall it having a bad odor.

Not a curve ball at all, and probably what you got.

This is Honey Locust.

There is a thornless variety, but what you had ain't it.

These are rounds from a Honey locust tree. Wood is pink with robust white cambium layer under the bark.

Not to be confused with Black locust, which has a yellowish color and does not rot like the Honey locust does.
Almost positive is Redbud after finding similar trees with the small pods still attached. We have lots of them around, just never cut one before and wasn't smart enough to put two and two together. Thank you for the help!

Buds look like Elm, splits similar to Elm, but it yellow as all get out. It's got a heady smell, not bad but noticeable.

It's got a mulberry tree next to it that apparently makes fruit. Is it possible that this is a non fruit producing Mulberry?

Back for more, this came from a state pile, 5pcs at 8'. I'm almost positive it's cottonwood, but which variety? The state has a lot of these giants at the lake, 80 years plus in age.

Two separate trees.

1- Bitternut Hickory? Solid as a rock, similar to locust. Heavier than Walnut of similar size.

2nd pic.
Beech?

Your very 1st pic looks like an ailanthus tree.

Where the hell are you cutting to get such a grab bag of stuff?
One of those pics is a willow.

Eastern KS.....
I've got a few places I cut. All of it is farmland save one spot which is on the lake. Some are field edges and some are creek bottoms.
