Nice score .
Finding stuff like that when cutting close to a house is always a concern, it's not just the chain, but it kind stinks getting into one and you have the notch cut and half the backlit and then you get stopped by a chunk of metal. Not really how I want to leave a tree.

I thought I posted this previously, but maybe in a different thread, anyhow, was cutting some Black Oak about a month ago and encountered a little difficulty (was about 4 inches in). Cut the log two lengths long with the next saw and used the X-27 to find this:

It is not completely destroyed, as the tops just got beveled the wrong way off the ceramic surface, but it is more work than I would want to do by hand to save it, and luckily I was running a cheap AM chain I had just converted to square file (was not a Stihl chain). So, not a big loss.

There was also a metal eye hook in another round that I luckily missed with the saw (but found while splitting). Just glad that none of the logs from that tree that I milled had any of that crap in them.

I've never found one of those in a tree yet, but I know there are a lot of them around here as I've seen the evidence, there is also quite a few of the other type that are the green/blue glass, the lines ran all along the RR tracks just down the street from me. I'm glad I haven't hit either yet.

Hello Jeff. I thought that was you then Kevin confirmed.

I hope that you were abke to clean up that chain enough.
Hello,sir..
Thanks, I worked on it last night, a lot better. Had 2 cutters that should be clear on new sharpening. I went a little far on the gauges, so it needed help...

About 35ft up. I suppose it was the last guy that climbed the tree.
I was cutting those *s-wordty things a few months ago next to an old victorian home now an office building. Filled with small wire fencing.....cut right through it. It was a quad grown together with lots of sand. Stihl semi-chisel chain.
