Oh that’s a easy fix. I fixed that on mine by putting the line behind the fuel line the first day I got it. Fuel line holds it back far enough away from the throttle wire assembly where it no longer rubs.
I would be real interested in a picture if you can Mason .

I'm a big fan of my Makita EA4300. There is a lot of things I like about this saw. Before making my purchase a few years ago I checked out all the saws in this class and the Makita had everything I was looking for at a great price. The selling points for me were it has 2 nuts, a standard adjustable carb, inboard clutch, large capacity fuel and oil tanks with regular fill caps that can be assisted with a scrench and a common bar mount pattern. I had accumulated quite a few bars and chains from freebie saws that would fit the Makita. So I ordered one online and waited for it show up.

You summed it well

So, my Makita 520i does not fall into this class? That's a shame because it is one of the best small saws that I own -- runs dead even with my Stihl 026 PRO and Husky 350. I think my Husky 353 beats it, but that's a close call.

52cc is close enough to be in the mix :). Its a 50cc class saw IMO.
I have the Dolmar version of your 520 ( the 111) .

Thanks Mason , will have a look into it.
Did you replace one of the lines you swapped about as you seem not to have the Dolmar red fuel line going to one of the carb barbs ...from factory all mine have had 1 red .

I'm thinking that this is as small as it gets? 22cc Makita top handle.

It's a BRILLIANT pruning saw! Extremely light, cuts quick enough & isn't overly aggressive in the cut.

I paid AU$379 for it 8 years ago. They're running out for AU$249 ATM, so I'm guessing that they're being discontinued. I'll buy another & put it away, just in case this one stops!

It does all my pruning for me, so over 8 years, it probably has over 2,000 hours on it.

Yup I replaced all the lines and impulse except the one in the tank with echo 3mmx5mm line (same size as oem) when I went through the saw.

That makes sense to me now ...Dolmar are very accurate on there IPL manual lengths of 98mm and 118mm for those factory fuel lines , hence there is no extra to play with in a new saw.

Yup I cut them a little longer. First I experimented with a longer cut primer line, it sunk down into the tank tighter after run time and still rubbed. I then put it behind the fuel line and it has worked.

I like that they have .043 gauge bars & chains! I might have to look into getting that on my new top handle. My little blue saw has .050 & would likely perform even better with .043

Is that 2.8kg with the battery, or without?

I use a 14" 3/8 Lo pro .43 /1.1mm bar and chain on the Dolmar ps-32 as standard . I can tell you going up to 3/8 lo pro .50/ 1.3mm is a significant power drain !. Well worth using Oregon 90px052 chain as it has narrow kerf teeth along with the .43/1.1mm Drive link.
I can not tell you for sure about the 2.8kg ,but the 3.3kg is likely/possibly to be dry of oil and with the battery but without the bar and chain.

I have found the factory set is a little towards the rich end so after a cat delete it would not harm to check out the saw with a Tac. I usually see 13000-13200 rpm before the coil starts to send the reading off . They never seem to be far away from factory settings in the end. 50:1 mix
Easy cat Del ...bend the gills if you dont want to grind them...works fine

Well apparently I have to get some new Dremel bits I’ve got three spot welds holding this 4300 cat. I’ve got one pretty much gone but I can’t reach the other one what did you use?

There are only two spot welds. You can kind of see where I ground away on them where they were in this picture...4115323C-DCC6-46C1-A01B-2BD4E3851F6C.jpeg

I was hoping for two but there’s three for sure and it’s the top one that I can’t get anything really down there except for a drill bit

There is two on either side of the cat tube. They hold the entire assembly half. Pry it at the seam once ground out and it pops out. 344295BB-F892-4A56-A2ED-F1E7CA19B5E1.png9A60075F-CA56-46AA-96AB-9AE991C53A51.jpeg
