Was there a factory recommended bar length, or did dealers just install a suitable bar for the region from the recommenced range?

MSRP usually includes the shortest recommended bar and chain to establish the most favorable price point. Anything else is optional and obviously reflected in an adjusted price, but at the dealer's discretion. They have a little more wiggle room on bars, chains and accessories to close a deal than they have on the units themselves. A decent dealer who actually moves some volume can usually go another bar and chain size higher (on smaller saws) or toss in a six pack of mix oil and some bar oil to make a sale. A dealer who won't deal a little on accessories to make a saw sale is operating on very thin margins (or just a prick) and wouldn't be a dealer I'd be relying on for quality service either since most smaller dealers earn their bread and butter in their service departments..., which actually allows them to deal a little on sales to acquire a new, (or retain an old) customer in the first place. There are obviously exceptions, but my rule of thumb based on experience is what you get at the sales counter is usually what you can expect from the service department..., but usually worse. If you're not receiving quality treatment up front, you're not likely to get it back on the bench. If a dealer won't bend a little on a new sale, find one who will.

/end of editorial. Sorry for the ramble.

A guy I worked with asked me to see if I could get some more power in his 291. Gave it extra muffler ports and ground the carb screw limiter tab off and retuned it. He’s happy, says it’s like a different saw.

What’s up with the diagnostic port on the new 194t? Anybody have or run one? Are they available yet, the two tree guys I mainly work for use 193’s that have the muffler work and timing advance. They like them pretty well so I figure I need to get a 194 to work through so when the 193’s gone I have them worked out.

View attachment 207949Anybody ran into one of these 026 saws I just bought one / I’ve never seen one before with the little research on the web they where produced

No sir. That is interesting. Saw an 038 with a similar plate a while back. I didn't buy it because I thought it was bogus.
Thanks for posting.

The fasteners do not look OEM.
Looks like someone had them made up.
