Sounds like it’s right there with the 461 price wise so in my mind it’s worth it. Really can’t expect them to sell for less than a 461. And if it’s a light bar and not standard it’s a good deal as far as I’m concerned, there not cheap by themselves.

Anyone with a connection in Germany?:D I wanna have a 500i in my hands as soon as possible. Shipped as chainsaw parts, with out a bar & plastic removed & :grazy: scattered in the box,
w/useless carb, air filter, split hoses maybe. Whatever camoflauge may get it by the Federales

Tony - I have received a number of saws from places around the world and no one has ever been curious about the contents. I expect that as long as they put it in a plain box it can go right through without issues.

Looks like stihl might be going the way of the chain stores. Maybe only smaller saws but this is a fairly large chain of stores in upper Midwest. Northern hydraulics/northern tool

Northern is a Large National Company.

We have them in the South.

Yes it is a Chain, but they are big time.

From my few dealings with Northern they seem to be a direct shipper type of business .In other words an order is directed to a secondary firm who direct ships whatever parts to you .I've had good luck but it annoys the dickens out of me when they push extended warranties ,very persistently I might add like a used car salesman . I've had better luck using Surplus City hydraulics than Northern .At least with them I don't get the PT Barnum BS talk like I'm a moron .

Never owned a ms 270 or ms 280 but I’ve seen a few for sale lately. I know it’s a homeowner saw ect but just wondering why it seems they only made them a short while. Are they junk compared to a 271/291?

Yes Pure Junk. I can't remember the details but @Definitive Dave once told us all the issues and to avoid them. Something about the coils and maybe "intelli carb" or something.

Worked on a 270. Had to put a $75 OEM coil on it. no AM parts out there. Got it running ok but told the guy sell as quick as he could .

True...how about what is average cost people are paying for a clean used ms660. Is $500 to $800 reasonable for saw without any scratches or heavy use on it?? I own several smaller older Stihls and my newest is a ms361(my most used saw lately). Looking at a 660 but not sure what its worth.

I don’t own a 660, but from looking on eBay at some clapped out, missing parts, faded plastic items that have sold for $400+ I’d say you are in the ballpark.
