They are good when they work but i had them mess up on me once. Went to bush to cut some wood. Ran till saw was empty. Stopped refueled. Closed fliopy cap tipped saw to start and fuel poured out. Rechecked cap and seemed good. Still leaked like a siv. Plus got gas all over my cloths. Kinda pisses ya off when they take a simple cap and try to make it better.

I think the fuel cap o-ring is Stihl # 0645 948 7734 .North wood saw has them at about $1.90 a pop or flea bay size 25 by 3.5 at a buck 90 for ten .The ethanol in the gasoline makes them get stiff after a while .--or buy the whole cap for 8-9 bucks .You have a choice .

There has got to be a better rubber for these caps and fuel lines that stands up to Ethanol better.

There most likely is but then they couldn't sell o-rings and flippy caps .On a serious note ,Ford motor where I retied from at least 15 years ago changed the material for the seal on the fuel injectors because the standard buna-n seals developed sealing faults which could have led to a fire .Why they ever went to a flippy I'll never know. Just being Germans I guess .They way over think things--on everything

Gosh I wish they were mine. The company I've been working for is based in NY. Two more days and I'll be retired from the tree industry. All I'll do with my saws is cut firewood and help friends.
