Why yes I am. Does the oiler itself have a metal gear as well inside? The plastic worm gear inside the oiler is flat and wiped out. Just didn't know if the plastic gear can be swapped out for a metal one.

well the am crank showed up today, surprised the hell out of me, that was quick. the crank looks good, tight rod bearing. it weighs 11.8oz. my oem crank still has the bearings on it so i dont know the weight of one of those to compare. flywheel nut threaded right on. i still need to wait for my bearings to arrive before i can do any assembly, but so far...knock on wood...this crank looks good.
Where did you get that Raisman crank? I've called the company but could never get past the girl on the phone!

The saw and it parts are currently stored, planning to get it out this weekend to dig back into it. I get some photos then to share.

Thanks

So in comparison to my older Stihl saw, my newer MS391 sucks to take apart....

Anyways I finally got it out of storage and tire it down to get some photos of the piston, cylinder, yoke etc.

On that 028,it has the same oiler as an 038 series,042 and 048 .The driven gear is the same, the drive gear could be different depending on the drive system--spur ,rim or replaceable spur .The pump gear as far as I've seen is steel .I've never seen an OEM driven gear with a plastic worm .
With as many aftermarket parts these days a plastic gear wouldn't be out of the question .

Based on the attached photos, can I clean up the cylinder and just replace piston, rings & yoke? Or do I need it all? Because that will cost me an additional $175 and I'm not sure its worth that plus my time.

What models are these. I'm not familiar with them, they have been lying in a container at work and I've decided to start cleaning them up and fixing them.

I'm also looking for the best cylinder and piston for an 036, we bought one and it ran funny from the get go. It appears the cylinder plating has been chipped.

Pardon the mediocre photos
