I was checking with guys on here. Didn’t want to step on somebody’s toes that really wants it. If the bid just stays there I may be interested but it’ll probably climb the last 2 minutes.

So, I picked up a brand new 2011 adjustable carb 5105 from the local dealer a couple weeks ago for a fantastic price. Not my favorite person to deal with, but has great prices and lots of parts and saws. Couldn't go again for a few weeks and didn't want to lose out on it, so made the trip on a lunch break and was pressed for time. My fault I didn't check, was in a hurry. Was told it was 3/8-18.

So I find this when I get home. It's 3/8 64 all right. On a 325 saw.. Luckily I have enough Dolmars now to never go back, and that setup on my nearly new 510. I think I will try 325 on both just to compare the 2. How many tooth rim drive are guys using for 325? Finally have something worthy to send to @Miller Mod Saws and see what this ported stuff is all about.

Ok, need your Dolkita expertise once again. Does anyone know if Makita part number 166-131-070 is still available? It’s the decompression valve for the 9010. Thanks again.
In stock in Germany, about 13€ a piece.

You better get new spare parts for Your 9010 while they still can be had!
Makita started marking parts NLA while the Dolmar PS-9010 was still stocked and sold in stores, it'll only get worse with the unit being discontinued.

Yesterday I did a little bit of bucking, the very last lumber to bet cut for this season.
Had my 7900H with me and let her cut that birch.
Not that the stem was that big to need a 7900.
It's because the bark of the birch trees in our region contain very much sand
and your chain will be dull after one ore two rolls cut.
So I tried a carbide-tipped chain I recently bought very cheap on flebay and
the only saw I have with a bar for 68 drive-links is the 7900.

After more than a year's rest I drippeld about 10 drops of fuel into the funnel and off she went ...

The carbide chain worked very well, btw

Have any of you used the nylon screen type air filter on your 5100/510/5105's? I have the flocked type and find it loads up easily and starts to diminish performance. Just thinking the screen would be easier to tap clean. Mine is this kind:

They work good as long as you clean them. Not recommend for people that don’t take care of there saws. Lol.

I am no expert, but my 510 came with the black framed nylon filter. After 2 tanks in dead ash, with a brand new sharp Oregon it was scary to look inside the intake boot to the carb. I can't imagine a dull chain with fine dust. It has been replaced with a flecked type.

Coating the seam of the black filter with grease helps a lot. Pop it open as shown on page 33 of the Canadian manual's English section. The pop open nubs are easy to miss if you don't know they're there. It's also easier to blow out the screens when it's opened.

I stayed with the flocked. If the dust is in the flocking it ain’t in the carb.

So true. I guess I'm accustomed to the Jonsered/Husqvarna spin filtration system and I hardly ever need to clean those filters. I'll just wash it a little more often.....

When I clean them I take them apart and spray them with brake cleaner from the inside out then carefully use compressed air to blow them clean from the inside out. I said use the compressed air carefully because at full pressure you can blow a whole thru the filter. Ask me how I know.

I read once about using starting fluid to clean the filters. I use it all the time now, and seems to really get the dirt out of them without ruining them. Open the filters if possible and shoot the ether through the backside to reverse flush the crud out of them. It dries fast and is cheap to use.
