That's pretty expensive I'd say, especially the saw does look ordinary and not especially well
preserved. In germany, a saw like that hardly would exceed ~130 EUR since there simply
are too many of them available.
This one however shows pretty well what I have described in my above post:
The silver coating is mostly gone leaving the grey undercoating exposed and
at spots the original tangerine is visible.

Yes it’s exactly ,as you said , it’s funny has seen a few over the years and
Hadn’t taken notice of the paint on those saws
But actually the silver Matt undercoat looks quite smart

Hey Guys,
Just got a line on a Home Depot Rental saw DCS642120Q 64cc for a decent price.
After reading some the trials & tribulations associated with "big bore kits" my local saw guru suggested just getting the 7900 OEM cylinder/piston and have it installed.
What are you guys thoughts, experiences, and last but not least whats the price point on a new Makita 7900 cylinder/piston?

Thanks,
Reg

The 7900 kit is NLA. You'll want the 7910 pc kit. I believe SLE Equipment had great prices on their 7910 kits previously.

Also, Nate @fordf150 hsa had some good deals on these in the past. Congrats on that saw. You'll love it.

Got a new Makita 5000. It appears the high carb adjustment tool is a dealer only item. I got a Performance Tool carb set and the DD don't work. Don't seem to have enough relief to get to the DD flats. Anyone find a specific tool which will work and a place to buy one? Thanks
I have heard you can take a file to ur tool and make it work if it close to going on.

I would like to explore what Carbs could be a direct or near direct swap out on the Ps-9010 /DSC- 9010.
Out of the Tillotson HS carbs fitted ...HS-294a (early 9010 if memory serves ) and HS-295a it would be nice to have a spare but most of the saws I have worked on seem to (particularly the DSC Mak 9010 version) end up as the ..HS-295b.. with the limiter caps. In themselves not a issue but the other two carbs "seem" to be better tuners with a standard saw. The HS-295a for what ever reason seemed stable when I had a new PS-9010 to set up with one on it.
Bit of tech on the 3 carbs . (ignore the 296 info)
Anyone have any ideas of other options ?

the first link guides me to an (other than the framing advertisements) empty japanese page,
the manual at manualslib.com however looks like this EA 3700T is a larger sister of the EA 3100T
aka Dolmar PS-311T. And if it's is true, the saw will be a Maruyama badge engineered for Makita.
Perhaps we might see a Dolmar branded model in some future?
Just looking into the crystal ball...

Got a different set and it fits perfect. Don't know how to share the link for them. From a site sponsor here. Conservation Chainsaw I believe.

Mine came with a Bing 49b on it. I've read they're getting hard to find parts for.

Your saw...was it a 9010 or a 9000 ? The bing was on the 9000 mostly and i assume you have the button on the back handle to set high idle . This is the biggest hurdle with the 9010 after about 2010 yr , they went to the idle set on the choke leaver so going back in carbs fitted is not really a viable direct swap.

I'm pretty sure it was a 9000. All identifying tags were removed and it was a derelict of a saw. It's going through full restoration here soon.

I've already done a powder coat test on the recoil and am pretty satisfied with the color. I ordered a new coil/flywheel (9010) and some other goodies for it.

I was eyeballing a Walbro Wj-115 from a 395 to go in mine also when it's rebuilt. There are some differences but the basics are there for good fit.

Impulse and fuel lines are workable, the choke lever would be easy enough to re-position and the Idle and jets screws appear to line up.

The venturis are identical measurements 20(outlet) and 22mm (intake).

Here is my derelict 9000/9010 when I got it.

That WJ has the high idle activated from the choke rod so could be a workable sub over for a saw that has no trigger lock button on the back handle...good find. :)
