This is my craigslist find from the other day after a few hours of cleaning and a gallon of degreaser. She's cleaning up pretty good I'm hoping I can get replacement decals from sugar creek supply, and I'll probably wrap the full wrap with handlebar wrap . View attachment 12597
Glad you scored that thing John.
Are the ends at the bottom welded together?
You might be able to source some proper wrap and slide it in if they're not.
I've heard it's not a pleasant job, but it'd be nice to have that rare handle done right.

Sweet setup on the full wrap. IPL called for one, but I've never seen one on the 3400-4000 series. You have a pic of how that ties into the buffers from below? Looks like a solid one piece all the way through from the document?

Thanks guys. Here's a pic of the bottom. I wrapped with handlebar tape already and I'm pretty happy with the way it turned, although if anyone has a source for the oem wrap I'd be interested.

Joe from sugar creek supply is working on replicating the decals. He's got the older version already, but I think it deserves the right graphics.

Unfortunately, I had to use a top cover from a 3700, but I'm on the hunt for the hi top cover.

Overall, pretty happy with it so far.

Nice 505. Those clutch covers are notorious for cracking around the holes for the bar studs.

Guess I can join the club since I just bought Jon's MMWS 4000. Can't wait to go pick it up! My only experience with Poulan saws has been a Crapsman branded Poulan of the late '90's era. I have heard good things about the mag cased Poulan's for a long time.

The only Poulan I have ever had cross my path that I decided would not leave. This is my Model 68. I have cleaned it up and rebuilt the carb, soaked the chain to free it up, and cleaned the points. Pops on first pull and runs very well. I have yet to put it in wood. Just got the chain put back on it a few minutes ago and decided to put it in this thread.IMG_20160403_130517887.jpg IMG_20160403_130537105.jpg IMG_20160403_130525713.jpg

Put some new crank seals in this one today. Made a few cuts with it, Runs great. It came with a 3800 top end as did some of my other 3400's which were assembled in the Skil plant in Toronto.
